Hard Mountain Dew…Alcoholic SodaPop?

With summer just around the corner, it’s that time of the year where we start seeing many new concoctions of alcoholic beverages making an appearance.

You may have heard rumors of Mountain Dew coming out with a alcohol version, and I’m here to tell you that those rumors are true!

This fascinating new drink was a mash up of Pepsi and the Boston Beer Company, who you may know as the company behind Samuel Adams, Truly, Angry Orchard and Twisted Tea to name a few.

If you ask me Boston Beer was the perfect choice for this Hard version of Mountain Dew with its experience in the variety drinks besides just Boston Lager beer and with it’s distribution reach to get to where it needs to be. At first Hard Mountain Dew was only available in 3 or 4 states (possibly to build hype) but luckily Minnesota was recently added to the list of states that would carry it.

I ended up finding the sample pack at Total Wine so that helped me not have to drive across town buying each one individually.

So what is it exactly? Well it’s a malt beverage that has zero sugar added to it and is classified as a seltzer.

What did I think of it? Well you can watch the video below to see my reactions and my choice for the best version but I will say they do have a very easy drinking style to them and with being 5% ABV, it can sneak up on you when you are throwing them back.
